diningHere is a selection of tips that can help you avoid overeating at home….

  • Avoid distractions (like the TV) whilst you're eating and don’t rush your food. Take the time to be fully conscious of what you are eating and enjoy every mouthful. Really savour the flavours and texture and chew at least 20 times. There is evidence to show that people who really focus on what they eat tend to eat fewer calories at a single meal. Eating with others is good; people who eat together tend to eat better food and more slowly.
  • Clear away leftovers (refrigerate, freeze or throw away) – don’t leave them within arms reach where they may be tempting
  • Serve your food on smaller plates
  • Enjoy a larger portion without piling on the calories by adding more vegetables and salads. Try and eat these before the main meal to help fill yourself up.
